Books to read this spring!

What is it?

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. (via That Artsy Reader Girl‘s blog). But more than sharing books with you, my mission here is going to be to convince you to read them!

Today’s theme: Spring cleaning freebie ! I decided to go for books that feel fresh and clean after the cold !

Pin it now, read it later!

Me, My Dad and the End of the Rainbow is one of the happiest books I’ve read so far. Like, ever. It is full of joy and pride and acceptance, and I genuinely felt loved and accepted reading this. It is the story of a young boy who learns that his dad is gay and tries to understand what it means and how he can fully show is support.

If you are looking for a fun, joyful and cute romance, look no more. I listened to this book when going to meet my boo for the first time, so it might be the reason it feels this special to me. But one thing is sure: this fresh love story will be your perfect spring buddy!

I fell in love with this story when I read it. But weirdly, I don’t see it this often on the online book community. It is the story of three teenagers whose lives are going to collide when one of them, Victor, is getting tested for HIV. The characters are so touching and so loving, and I think the main subject of this book is an highly important one. A must read to me.

Yup. When it comes to spring and warmer seasons, I am all for romance novels and cute love stories. With this one, you will spend a cute and quiet time. I believe this one to be perfect for the first rays of the sun outside. To enjoy with a cold drink or, for people like me who would drink black coffee at any time, a cup of coffee of course!

Usually, I try not to include twice the same author on my recommendation lists, but Kacen Callender is this good everyone. Please read Felix Ever After. It is cute and deep and amazing and has such a great pride scene (I think we do not have enough Pride scenes in novels, so here you go!)

I feel like it’s been forever since I recommended a manga over it, but some of you requested more of them so here we go! I am very behind on this series (meaning I have read only the two first volumes) but I love it so so so much. As you might have guessed by the cover, the plot starts in Spring and it is so so so lovely and sweet. Also, huge cliffhanger at the end of the first volume, so I would recommend you get the second one right away aha.

You fancy a little fantasy when getting out of winter? I’ve got you! Do you like dragons? Do you like badass heroines? Do you like races? Then Silver Batal might be the perfect novel for you. I adored this story and Silver is one of the most badass protagonist ever. I also found the relationship she develops with her dragon to be very touching, but I will let you to it without spoiling anything!

Yes, this is my current read. But it is also the book that inspired me for this recommendations list! Reading it, I feel like it’s perfect for this time of the year. We can now hope for better months to come, as the main character is hoping for a better life in his new country. I love it so far, and the love story that is emerging sounds very sweet.

What would be one of Abookflower‘s recommendation list without a feminist book? It would be kind of weird, right? I loved this story, though it might be one of the last book I read in French so I couldn’t tell you my thoughts on the original writing style. It is one of those novels I felt very empowered reading it ! I highly recommend this one!

Another manga for the run, with one of my favourite setting to read about: Italy! I don’t know what it is with this country, but I do love stories taking place here. Maybe it is the sun. Or the lovely Italian people. Or my weird-arse brain (could be). This story is very touching but also very empowering as well, since we follow a young woman in the 16th century who wants to become a paint master… But it was a field reserved for men. WOOPS.

So guys, what do you think of today recommendation list? I really love the Freebies from Top ten Tuesday, because it allows me to be more creative in my recommendations! If you have any request, don’t hesitate to share them in the comments down below, I will make sure to check them out and give you some recommendations. It can be whatever you want, so feel free to go wild!
